Supporting Adults with Learning Disabilities
Bensham Resource Centre offers a wide range of recreational, therapeutic, educational activities and daily living skills. Our activities promote the skills and talents of people on the Autistic Spectrum and with Learning Disabilities.
Service Users are assessed on their skills, abilities and preferences to determine the level of support they require.
Each Service User has an individual Person Centred Plan to match their abilities and meet their interests. The support we provide is outcome focused with clear aims and objectives which are measurable and assessed at the end of each term.
We have devised a pictorial planner to enhance recognition and communication. Bensham Resource Centre benefits from a purpose built, air conditioned premises over 3 floors. The facilities are spacious with natural light which makes a very pleasant environment.
There are large halls for activities, parties and games. We have dedicated rooms for specific activities, i.e.: Sensory, Massage, Music and Computer Rooms. There are three separate kitchens to allow Service Users with different needs to develop their cooking skills in small groups.
Leading from our large patio area there is a conservatory which houses a hydropool and it is also equipped for pottery classes.
Access to all areas is wheelchair friendly with ramps and lift. There is a drop off / pick up drive.
