Staff Training

Brigstock House is committed to training. The Learning and Development needs of Staff are identified based on the needs of our Service Users and the skills required from Staff to ensure that the service meets essential standards of quality and safety.
Brigstock House ensures that all Staff attend internal and external training mandatory or recommended by the Care Quality Commission and Skills for Care. The Home complies with relevant regulations covering Staff competency and training.
To make sure all Staff are trained swiftly we have started a Train the Trainer program whereby our Managers become qualified trainers on the following subjects: Safeguarding, Moving & Handling, Medication, Dementia and Autism Awareness.

Staff Development

It is the philosophy of the organisation that all Staff are trained to be In Charge (IC) of a shift, thereby empowering them to take more responsibilities.
Staff are encouraged to take on specific projects, i.e.: each Home has a Dignity Champion who makes sure that the 10 Dignity Challenges are implemented. Each Staff is responsible for areas such as Recreation, Medication, Accounts, Health & Safety, etc. These responsibilities empower Staff to take an active role in the running of the Home. Some of the projects undertaken have been to refurbish the Home or revamping the garden together with Service Users.
